What would be our world without the advancement of the technologies and sciences? It is a boon of science and technology that has made many an impossible thing possible. Who thought it would be a successful journey for all those couples who had lost hope about being parents and are now enjoying their happy parenthood days thanks to IVF-ICSI.
ICSI today is one of the latest and most successful treatments for patients with infertility.
Know what ICSI is?
Intra-Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection(ICSI) is a process, wherein, one sperm is extremely carefully injected into a mature oocyte with a very delicate and pointed hollow needle, under a highly technologically advanced Electron Microscope. This injected oocyte is then kept in the culture medium and placed in a very sophisticated incubator to fertilise.
This very technique is called micromanipulation and needs tremendous expertise.
- You can choose fresh sperm sample or frozen sperm sample during the ICSI procedure. In either of the cases, there will not be any difference in the pregnancy results for you.
- The success of ICSI ,thus, depends on the efficiency and expertise of the embryologist.
- We have an expert team of embryologists catering to all our patients. Hence our results speak for themselves.
Which patients can be considered as a successful ICSI candidate?
ICSI can increase the chance of a successful pregnancy in the following conditions:
In males
- Poor sperm count.
- Poor quality of sperms.
- Unusual shape or motility of sperms
- In some cases of azospermia (absent sperms in semen)
In females
- Poor ovarian reserve
- Elderly woman
- PCOD
- Prolonged infertility
- Failed attempts at IVF
ICSI has much better success rate than the IVF worldwide.
As ICSI gives excellent results, it has now replaced traditional IVF, and is being used for most of the prolonged infertility cases. ICSI has a high success rate, with over 45-50% of couples who undergo the procedure achieving pregnancy.
